Wings

Yesterday, Maddux got his first set of wings! We embarked on a 1000 mile journey north to my home state of Michigan. I could cry at how amazing he was traveling. It went a little something like this:

My dear friend Amy dropped us off at the airport around 10 am and by drop off, I mean walk us inside and all the way to security (thank you Amy!). We made it through security without a hitch and strolled right on up to gate A9 with 30 minutes to spare. Maddux, content as could be, looking everywhere, taking it all in. Next thing we knew it was time to pre board...that's me now! I grabbed my bags, put little man in his stroller, and down the jet way we went! The flight attendants were all so helpful making it easy to get settled. The jet door closed, I turned my cell phone off, and next thing I realized was an open seat next to me. Score!! As the plane flew high into the sky I nursed Maddux praying it would help his little ears from popping. It worked! Next thing I knew I had a sweet sleeping baby in my arms :-) 2 hours later....touch down and Maddux was STILL sleeping! He finally woke up as we rolled into gate A71. I'm pretty sure I had a smile from ear to ear with how well the flight went. On our way off the plane the pilot stopped us and asked if Maddux wanted a "set of wings". I said "Absolutely! This was his first flight ever". And so the pilot handed me Maddux's first set of wings...here he is sporting them.

We had a 3 hour layover which consisted of lunch for both of us, a walk through the tunnel of lights (which he loved), playing, a nap, and a major blow out from Maddux (always fun in public). I blinked and it was time to board...but we were not boarding, there were mechanical issues, of course. And it was time for Maddux to eat, which I was planning on doing during take off. After an hour of rocking, singing, bouncing, and kind people asking if I needed anything, we finally boarded...Maddux was a rockstar. I didn't have to feed him. When we got on the plane he was an hour overdue to eat, but you never would have known it. I nursed him the whole 23 minutes flight. Again, he did great. Aunt Lis met us at the airport and took us home where Nana Jane and Jodi were anxiously awaiting our arrival. Maddux got lots of lovin from Nana, Aunt Lis, and Jodi and then crashed (I knew that was coming...).

We had a wonderful day. I love my little travel buddy. I would do it again in a heartbeat :-) I do believe it could not have gone any smoother. I'm blessed to have such a good baby.

Here are a couple pictures from our day...

Waiting patiently for take off on our first flight

Staring at the tunnel of lights
